Is the grass always greener?

Default post image

I’m having a not-so-great day.

My DH’s company is cutting our pay 10%. Why? Because they make bad business choices. Not our fault, but we have to take it. We’ve currently downsized to one car so that we could save for a down payment on a house. The money we were going to be saving, is going down the 10% drain. We will hardly have any money for groceries even. It’s a big, big cut. I don’t know what we’re going to do. I never finished my college degree, so it’s not like I have a career to fall back on. I could go get a part time job, but I’m sure I won’t be making more than minimum wage. And, is it worth it, sacrificing family time? What’s the point in having a family if you can’t see them? I can’t bear the thought. It’s what I want to do- I want to be a SAHM. Trials and tribulations and all. I am at a loss here. I know I should be thankful to even have my DH employed, but it’s not enough to support our family. I know I could cut cable next, but if it’s the only form of entertainment we have left, what else am I supposed to do?

I’m in the midst of potty training. I put M down for her nap, and got into the shower so I could “cool off”. While I was in the shower, M came in to tell me she pooped in her diaper. I had asked her MANY times before I put her in her nap time diaper if she needed to go, and each time she said no. I told her if she needed to poopie, to go ahead and get on the potty like she normally does. Instead, she poops in her diaper! I am so tired of changing these nasty toddler diapers! The smell is the worst. Couldn’t she do it when Daddy is home from work?

It just seems like one thing after another. And today, I’m just not prepared to handle it. Such is life I guess.

By the way, does anyone know where I can find one of these?money tree

disney Okay, I know this image doesn’t have much to do with this post, but I love it!

It’s that time of the month for us, that ALL of our bills are due (or so it seems).

I hate paying bills.

No, I really REALLY hate paying bills. I’m the CFO in our house, and it’s not fun.

Things aren’t going so well for John’s company, and as of right now we still have a job *thank the stars*. Now our pay could change a little (for the worse) so I’m bracing myself for that.

I know it’s selfish, but I really wanted to take M to Disney World this year (even to FL to see her Grandparents), and it might not happen. It makes me so sad, but we could be so much worse off. I know there are people out there who can’t even afford their home, so I apologize if I offend.

As for me, I think I’m under a little too much stress right now. I haven’t sleepwalked in almot 7 years, but last night at 2am I came downstairs. Thankgoodness John found me, and followed me back up. So weird! I have no clue as to what triggered it though. Ugh, I’m so tired too this morning. I’m ready for winter (and hockey season) to be over with!!

Thinking of new ways to save

Default post image

money

So with this economic crisis, I am looking for new ways to become a “recessionista”.

I’m saving as much as I can, even if it’s really pennies. While I’m saving, I’m also trying to not cut back too much on the things my family enjoys.
What’s the point of life if you can’t enjoy it?
I’m just looking for more creative ways to do things. I’m watching for sales (7 sheets of scrap booking paper $1 at Michael’s) and I’m watching how much time we spend on M’s skating.
We’ve cut back, but not cut out.
We’re downsizing to one car. My hubby will be carpooling with a friend to work, and I’ll be picking him up. We are paying off a credit card next week, so with that, we’ll be saving about $800 a month. Nice chunk of change. We’ll also be saving on our car insurance too, by being down to one car. I’m hoping by next year that I will have saved enough for a down payment on a house, although right now the smarter thing to do is rent. We’ll have to wait and see!

I’ve also been checking out a site, called $5 Dinners. It’s run by Erin, and she is awesome! I’ve tried her system (not fully mind you) and it saved me 39% off my grocery bill. How cool is that?

So with this crazy financial state, where are you looking to cut back, and what are your goals for saving?
