Keepin’ it clean- kitchen edition

After doing dishes- do you ever wonder how many germs are living in it? Or how about when it just sits on your counter? It’s like a rave for the nasties.

Want to show those germs who’s boss?

Toss your kitchen sponge in the microwave (wet- or it could catch fire) for at least a minute on full power. You can also limit this time if your microwave comes from Krypton.

Keepin’ it clean- bathroom edition

Need to keep it clean- and fast?

Are your fixtures and mirrors grimy?

Are you out of cleaner?

Well, there’s an option…

Rubbing alcohol!

All you have to do is wash your fixtures and mirrors with a soft cloth (I actually use a paper towel) and rubbing alcohol!

It really does work, and it’s a fast, easy and inexpensive way to get that shiny surface.

Laundry Facts, Domestic Debacle style.

Fact: The average US household does 400+ loads of laundry a year.

Fact: The normal load of laundry weighs about 10 pounds.

Fact: The average US family spends about $11 in laundry detergent monthly.

Fact: There’s about 36 billion loads of laundry done in the US yearly.

Fact: Laundry is my second-favorite activity.

What’s the first you ask?

Gouging out my eye-balls with a ballpoint pen.

Today is laundry day.

And I despise it.

Let your kids do the filling

Default post image

This “task” is a great way to get your kids involved in housework, and also shows them light home maintenance at an early age. It’s not only safe, but it’s fun too.

If you have a nail-hole that needs filling, let your kids handle it.

It’s super easy to make your own nail filler, from products you probably already have in your home.

Have your kids mix 3 parts baking soda and one part white glue (like Elmer’s).

You might have to add a little water to get the right consistency, as the mixture tends to shrink up as it sits out.

Because this mixture is relatively safe (I wouldn’t eat it, but I really wasn’t a glue-eater growing up), let your kid “paint the wall” where the hole is.

How often to do let your kiddo paint the walls?

My point exactly.

You’ll be the coolest parent ever- but what they don’t know, is that they are tackling a MAJOR chore- that you now don’t have to do!

Little effort, with big results!

Wordless Wednesday, postponed

Default post image

This week’s Wordless Wednesday is being postponed.

Why?

Um, it’s a debacle…

I can’t find my camera cord!

Yikes!

So, when the cord decides to come home, I’ll be sure to get my Wordless Wednesday post up.

When that will be?

Who knows?

Just another Domestic Debacle…
