A few of my favorite things: Magnetic Hair Flair Organizer

Default post image

A couple months ago, my friend Jenny from Momminitup.com did this really cool Pin for the Wednesday craft- the DIY Magnetic Hair Bow Board. I thought it was pretty cool, and I luuuuuurve all things organizational. So I thought I’d give it the good ‘ol college try and make my own on the cheap.

I went to Michael’s Craft Store with a coupon in hand- and did my best to shop only in the clearance section (the magnets were totally full price, so I had to use the coupon for those). In the clearance section I found a generic magnetic board ($7), magnetic hooks ($2) and a magnetic locker bin ($1). The actual mini-magnets were $6, but I was able to use a 40% off coupon because they were full price. In all, I had invested about $14.

And here’s what I came up with:

The magnets hold great, and I love the way it all came together. My only complaint is that I didn’t get a bigger board!

Here’s a better look at the hook, which I used to hang her crochet hats from:

The magnetic locker bin was a fantastic idea- it was a great way to store my daughter’s crochet headbands. These would normally get tossed in a drawer and would get forgotten, but with them displayed like this my daughter always has her choices neatly laid out!

Totally worth $14! It’s a great way to organize my daughter’s “hair flair” and makes a great focal point in her room. It also saves her time in the morning because she doesn’t have to dig through a box of bows to decide what she’s going to wear. Total win-win! It also makes a great inexpensive gift. Put one together and add a few bows for the special lady in your life!

Christmas Eve Reindeer Feed Craft!

Default post image

A few days before (or when we’re in that last minute rush of Christmas eve) we sit down at our kitchen to make a batch of Reindeer Christmas Feed.

It’s one part oatmeal, to one part sugar crystals and Christmas nonpareils (sprinkles). You sprinkle this “magic” food on your lawn, the magic glitter sparkling in the moonlight and smell of oats will lead Rudolph right to your home! M loves it, and it’s a craft everyone can enjoy!
