Spring Cleaning

st+vincent

I went through my closet the other day, and evaluated my clothing situation. I’ve realized that I don’t wear nearly the amount of clothing that I own, so it was time to purge. Out of 1 closet, I got 5 outdoor trash bags full of clothes that I don’t wear, and haven’t worn in 3+years (shame on me!). So, out with the bags! And as I am typing this, my wonderful husband is dropping them off at St. Vincent de Paul (our local homeless shelter). They do a lot for our community, so I am glad to be helping them out.

A bitter-sweet moment

school+days

I registered M for preschool this morning. She’ll be 4 in September. I can deal with hockey lessons, playdates and mom’s night out. I can’t however deal with the fact that my baby is going to school. Sigh…

The winning pizza

Okay, so this pizza hasn’t won anything “officially”, but it has won over my taste buds. My 3 year-old swears by it, and licks her plate every time. And yes, she is an extremely picky eater.
She even asks for it again the next day. How awesome is that?!?!
So here are the details:
1 Boboli Original Pizza crust (they currently have a $1 off coupon on their site)
1/2 cup of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce
1/2 red onion ( I sweat them out a little on the stove before I put them on the pizza)
1.5 chicken breasts cooked (I use the chicken breasts from a store-bought rotisserie chicken)
1 round of Gouda cheese, grated or shredded.
preheat oven to directions on the Boboli Pizza Crust package.
Layer the pizza sauce, chicken, red onions and Gouda. Cook for 10 minutes, but check at 8.
Serve to your family, and watch them gobble it up!

She’s a SEWIN’!!

So I bought a sewing machine. A cheap one. A really, really cheap one. I bought the Singer basic sewing machine, and paid about $69 for it at Target. It gets the job done, even if I am new at sewing. It doesn’t have any of those fancy bells-and-whistles, but I don’t think I need them at this point either.DSCN1659 These cute pants were my first project. I had the close supervision of my seamstress BFF Jessi to get these puppies done (before she up and decided to move to Chi town). Oh- and fleece- isn’t so fun to sew. It take a lot of patience, which I just don’t have in my system.DSCN2043Next up was this HAWT-MESS-of-a-skirt. Just don’t look close at it. Please. I do love the fabric though, and have a little leftover. I’d love to make an apron out of it, although I have no clue how to make one. Off to Joann’s!DSCN2041This was the last skirt I made. I screwed it up royally too, but you can’t tell from this side (who knew you needed to hem cotton?) I also made it waaaaay too big for the person intended, so it makes a great dress-up skirt. I learned a lot from this one, so when I go to make Jen’s, it will look a lot nicer. DSCN2039And this? Well, it’s a close-up of the fabric. I love, love, love the colors in this skirt!!

So this project, I give myself a pass-fail-pass (with exception).
