Before I get into the reviewy stuff, let me give you a little back-story…

So, I went to this rockin’ party on Halloween that had some appetizers sitting out. One in particular looked very festive. It was a block of cream cheese, with some orange jelly, with what looked like little red flakes in it poured over top. I had to try it.

Turns out curiosity can (almost) kill your tastebuds.

I took a HUGE bite of the stuff, and let me tell you, this party instatly became my favorite because of this amazing jelly! It was SPICY but oh-so- sweet at the same time!

It was the BEST and most unique tasting dip I had ever. had. in. my. whole. stinkin’. life. I never left the table (well, except to kick some butt at Halloween Pictonary).

And my luck must have been in full out that night, because the MASTERS of the yumminess were at the party with little ol’ me. Needless to say, I was like a 13 year-old girl at a Jonas Bro’s concert.

Recently, I was given the opportunity by Elk Creek Vineyards, to review (yes FTC, I got them for free in exchange for a review, but free booze doesn’t affect my decision on how they taste, mmkay?).

Elk Creek wines is part of a large vineyard in Owenton, KY. So what’s great about this- is yes, it’s another AMERICAN COMPANY! Can I get a YAY?!? But this is no ordinary vineyard. It’s family friendly. Really. Check out their site HERE for more information. They even have several lodging options, so where you will stay will never be an issue. There are so many things to do at Elk Creek, that it’s a destination within itself. I can’t wait to take my family there!

Now to the nitty gritty of their goods:

For my first go-around, I tried their Ghostly White Chardonnay, which was AMAZING with kettle corn! This bottle actually went so fast in my house (hubs got one sip, then I drank the rest) I couldn’t get a pic of the bottle (which you think I would have considering I was the one with the bottle the whole time-but my clean-freak-anal-retentive-husband-more-commonly-known-as-J threw it away before I got the chance). This wine was so smooth, and I enjoyed drinking it so much! It’s actually my wine of choice. Not too sweet, but just right.

For my second go round, I had the Sweet Mellow White, Ghostly White. This was a SUPER sweet wine (in my opinion now, so you’ll have to try it, and let me know what you think). I thought it tasted like a German Riesling, which I love, and normally order when I go out. It’s one of those “after dinner wines” or “just got up in the morning wanting something sweet” wines. I really think it’s good for about any time of day .

The third, Bone Dry Red Cabernet Sauvignon, is pretty mild. It’s very, very smooth with a little hint of spice. It’s definitely one of those “must buy wines” and consider myself spoiled now that I’ve had it. I’ll be honest here, I don’t like red wine, but this one, I love.

And you know what else? Elk Creek does a WONDERFUL job with their packaging. The bottle labels are well decorated, and while they might be considered Halloweenie, I think they are great all year-round. Especially for those who have a sense of humor like myself.

 Bottom line, the bottle don’t lie. All three are great, and in my opinion, fantastic gifts. I know my family will be getting some for Christmas. They are soooo appropriate with “A Christmas Carol” coming out (I’d much rather be visited by Elk Creek Wine’s Ghostly Whites than the three ghosts of Christmas). Know what I mean, Ebineezer?
